Just like any other guild, you have to start as a beginner and work your way up the ranks...

Beginner (1xp): basically just shows that you are not a bot or lurker.
Apprentice (100xp): You can now enter in word count challenges...
Novice (400xp): ability to use the "Critique and Beta Requests" channel.
Adept (800xp): access to the "Book Share" to show off your books.
Legendary (1000xp): You can now request to be added to our website...
